About this artwork
My preoccupation with dream worlds led to the creation of this unicorn sculpture. The special design—fire—reflects the transformation of the subject, the body.
In my sculpture series "Unicorn No. 3," resin, fire, and wood embody the longing for the magical in our everyday lives and remind us to seek the wonder in the world. The carved and brushed texture and the warm sheen of the material imbue an earthy, yet mystical energy.
Dreams are often the… starting point for my artistic work. Dreams are the connection to the invisible, subterranean worlds. In the transformation of the dreamed image, a spontaneous gesture is important, with eyes half-open, half-closed.
Then I go into the forest and collect the resin from the trees to create a special mixture for my sculptures, which I use to refine the surface.
Materials: Lime wood flamed and brushed, self-made resin from spruce

Vinko Nino Jaeger uses media such as wood carving, abstract drawing, painting, photography, and writing. He studied contextual painting and object sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, graduating with distinction. He employs an abstract and surreal aesthetic to disrupt conventional concepts of the body.
