About this artwork
In honor of our dead
In October, I enjoy painting skulls in honor of our dead: yours, mine, and all those who watch over us from above. It's a reminder of how fleeting our time on this earth is. I pay tribute to them with colors, smiles, flowers, and love.

Virginia Naranjo Mora is a Costa Rican multidisciplinary artist who uses watercolor, acrylic, luminescent paint, sculpture with marine wood, and found objects. She has dedicated her career to visual art since childhood. Her techniques combine bioluminescent elements and transformed materials to create poetic and fantastical worlds that are somewhere between the naive, the spiritual, and the environmental, especially inspired by nature, the sea, and childhood. Her works convey wonder, hope, gratitude, and faith, inviting us to discover beauty in imperfection and reconnect with the magic of the natural environment.
