Chainsaws/plywood panel/pigments/acrylic/plexiglass lens
Before tackling the two pieces for my public art commission for the PSD Bank RNS in Saarbrücken (last photo), I created two "test" panels from plywood and plexiglass lenses. I unexpectedly found myself at a lathe for making the plexiglass lenses, where I produced the blanks and polished the lens surfaces. The lenses allow you to see through the wood panel to the wall behind… it. I also treated the backs of some of the lenses with neon paint, making them appear to glow. All without any electrical or technical aids.
The wonderful and special thing about my work as an artist is that I can constantly embark on completely new and unknown paths and therefore have to search for solutions that often don't exist or didn't exist before. What a blessing! What incredible luck!!!
