Initially planned as a composition for the "Spaces" series, this image evolves beyond spaces into a narrative of a long journey, the destination of which is unknown.
Hence the title "rooms_where does the journey go? Layer upon layer, glaze upon glaze, different impressions and moods emerge, leaving free rein to the imagination.
The entire piece is made of MDF, making it suitable for outdoor use.
Wally Althoff works with gouaches, pigments, inks, mixed media, cold wax, and encaustic painting. She incorporates her passion for painting and beekeeping into her work. She combines abstract naturalism and realistic abstractions of faces and landscapes with graphic reduction, both in her paintings and in her own encaustic technique. Her works convey a deep appreciation for the beauty of life and the magic in every human face—powerful, airy, and poetically fragile.
