About this artwork
The Eurasian curlew, a commission for a biological center in western Münsterland, belongs to the snipe family and is the largest European wading bird. Modeling its narrow, long, strongly downward-curved beak and later reworking it in wax was a great challenge to my dexterity and patience. I captured its fine, smooth plumage ornamentally and worked it into patterns.
