About this artwork
A biological center in the Münsterland region commissioned me to create bronze sculptures of four native owls. The eagle owl is the largest owl species. With its striking ear tufts, it holds a special fascination for me.

Waltraud Hustermeier is a trained wood sculptor with a degree in visual communication. Today, she primarily works as a stone restorer, creating figurative additions mainly in stone substitute material. With masterful technique, she models animals in clay, capturing lightness, movement, and elegance through intricate details and vividly and realistically expressing the unique characteristics of each species. Her works, cast in bronze, are deeply moving, immortalizing the wonderful forms and patterns of nature by playfully exploring contrasts such as softness and hardness, thus evoking wonder and admiration.
