About this artwork
This painting is based on a combination of influences, from both, Pop artist Andy Warhol, and Abstract Expressionist Robert Motherwell. Some of the shapes resemble those of Motherwell, but done in my style, with a comic book look. The color palette is in proximity to that of Warhol, to provide an overall Pop art look. The rhetoric of the composition is wrapped around the idea of imagining both, Warhol, and Motherwell, going deep into the Matrix (like… in the 1999 iconic movie).
« "I use comic book images and adapt, combine, destroy, recombine, and layer them into completely new and energized compositions." »
