About this artwork
Inspired by the landscape of the inner city, travelling by train, taggers and graffiti artists populate the walls of the city, adding colour and intensity. This painting takes inspiration from the incredible diversity of the urban landscape that you view when you travel. In this work I aimed to create a sense of movement and imagery that shifts rapidly between forms and colour to create a dynamic picture.
Wendy Grace holds an Honours degree in Painting from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. An accomplished Australian artist renowned for her vibrant abstract compositions, command of colour and instinctive grasp of spatial relationships. Her artworks are deeply influenced by nature and urban dynamics, as she seeks to push the boundaries of her work to find new ways to convey meaning and emotion. She says of Abstract painting that, “she is able to use everyday experiences and encounters with people and the environment in her work, to create a space to explore pathways to the imaginary,” offering the viewer a dynamic interplay of colour and pattern.
