About this artwork
Utopian or dystopian, or in between. Will the future look like Fritz Lang's Metropolis? Will science save us and allow us to live on as we do now, or have we already passed a tipping point and is the surface of our planet becoming inhospitable, uninhabitable? Are we going to have to go underground and no longer have a blue sky to look at, but instead a grey concrete ceiling?
This painting is made on paper because Wim van Loon wanted a paper like… texture. The paper is mounted on canvas. Van Loon used mixed mediums, for the more shiny parts he used Venetian turpentine.
The painting comes with a simple frame for extra protection.
