This is the award-winning artwork from the illustration contest hosted by the Japanese monitor company EIZO in 2023. (grand prize)
The theme of the contest was idols, and the artwork depicts the contrasting views of idols on stage and backstage in a symmetrical manner. Since it was hosted by a colorful monitor company, the artwork utilizes rich contrasts of light and color.
This artwork holds significant meaning for me as it marks my first illustration… created after transitioning from commercial art in the company to pursuing a career as an illustrator. It was a momentous step for me, and receiving an award, particularly from esteemed artist 'Tiv', who was one of the judges, was truly gratifying. Winning the prize and receiving positive feedback from the judges boosted my confidence and helped me solidify my direction in illustration work.
