About this artwork
Alleinlust (a hybrid of allein- alone and Lust- desire or joy) is a reflection on solitude as a chosen and vital state. This painting is not about isolation, but about the deep, radiant pleasure of being alone without feeling lonely. Within the context of my Coalescence series, it continues the exploration of inner opposites- here, the calm of self-containment paired with a quiet yet intense passion for life.
The composition is divided into two… planes. The upper half hums with soft, muted greys and floating organic forms, evoking stillness and quiet observation- a mind turned inward. Below, the canvas opens into a vibrant flow of reds and warm tones, suggesting emotional undercurrents, physicality, and desire. This duality mirrors the inner experience of solitude: externally contained, yet rich with color, depth, and feeling.
Painted with acrylic and oil on canvas.
H: 100 cm, L: 120 cm
Using acrylics and mixed media, rooted in her experience from a Moscow art school, Yulia Ani translates her unique vision onto canvas. Combining abstraction with figurative elements, her style embraces expressionist deformities to evoke emotional resonance. She orchestrates a vulnerable dialogue, bridging dramatic color and gesture to translate the profound connections between our inner and outer worlds.
