About this artwork
I didn't paint a specific beach, because I wanted you to find your own. Abstraction is an open door. By removing superfluous details, I create space for pure connection. It's an invitation to meditation, a space where the world's tumult fades away, leaving only the imagined sound of the waves.
"Painting this sea is, for me, an act of desire. The desire for a limitless horizon, for a rediscovered clarity and a serenity that only the blue immensity… can offer."
This work is a piece of that elsewhere that I carry within me. By welcoming it into your home, you are not just buying a painting, but a window onto your own inner sea, the one where everything is calm, where everything is possible.
Yulia Kestener primarily uses painting, drawing, and various materials such as textured paste, clay, paper, fabric, and wood, drawing on a rich personal history shaped in Eurasia. Her works blend material experimentation, abstraction, abstract landscapes, and energetic mandalas, playing with textures and light to create unexpected and magical images. She seeks to evoke profound emotion, inviting the viewer to an intimate reconnection with nature, light, and their own lived experience, in a rare feeling of nostalgia and gratitude.
