About this artwork
This painting was inspired by Sergei Parajanov’s film The Color of Pomegranates, dedicated to the Armenian poet Sayat-Nova. In the film, the poet is portrayed through a striking artistic device: a woman embodies both his masculine and feminine essence. This duality became the conceptual core of my work.
In “Sayat,” the figure exists beyond gender. The face is calm, almost icon-like, yet emotionally charged. The intense red background echoes the… symbolism of pomegranates — passion, sacrifice, bloodline, творчість and destiny. The floral crown functions as both adornment and burden: a sign of beauty, memory, and poetic suffering.
The work explores identity as something fluid and layered, where masculine and feminine energies coexist rather than oppose each other.

She employs a captivating blend of modernism, impressionism, and realism, recently embracing minimalism to highlight essential forms, atmosphere, and clarity.
