About this artwork
The "Calligraphy" series was created between 1998 and 2000 and continues to evolve today. By definition, calligraphy is a combination of text and visual image. And the visual image can be just as meaningful, and sometimes even more so, than the verbal image. In the "Calligraphy" series, I attempted to create a "text message" written in a "metalanguage" in which the visual image plays an important role.
"Calligraphy 2000" was shot on a black-and-white… 6x9 cm medium format negative (Kodak T-MAX 100 120 (TMX)). These are digital prints from the scanned negatives.
