A curation by Natalie Slater, Curator at Singulart - ‘Going Somewhere’ looks at the everyday experience of moving through a city. Trains, buses, platforms, and stations become the backdrop for people walking, waiting, sitting, watching, and sleeping as they make their way from one place to another. There is a familiar rhythm running through these works. Crowded carriages and hurried footsteps give way to quieter moments—a passenger looking through a window, someone asleep in their seat, an empty platform between trains. Movement and waiting seem to occupy almost equal amounts of time. Bringing together painting and photography by different artists, the selection focuses on these ordinary stretches of the day that are easy to overlook. The destination matters less here than the time spent getting there, and all the small moments that happen along the way.
