A curation by Natalie Slater, Art Agent at Snap Collective - ‘Good Company’ is a curation that brings together works where dogs appear both in relation to us — and entirely on their own. Sometimes they sit at the center of the composition, sometimes they drift to the edge, sometimes they hold the frame without explanation.
Across painting, drawing, and mixed media, these artists treat the dog less as a symbol and more as a presence. In some works, the dog reads as protector or anchor; in others, it’s autonomous, watchful, or quietly indifferent. The human figure may lead, follow, or disappear altogether.
What connects these works is not sentimentality, but balance — between dependence and independence, closeness and distance. The dog becomes a steady force in unstable scenes, or simply a body occupying space on its own terms. No moral, no hierarchy. Just coexistence.
