Lifting the spirits - curated by Charles Caldecott

A curation by Charles Caldecott, Art Curator at Period of Grace - This is a collection of work that will lift your spirits and take you where your dreams do. Sometimes we need out spirits to soar, sometimes we need them to be placated and I have tried to think about this in this curation. Sometimes we need a smile put on our face with the vibrancy of colour, sometimes we need a physical jolt from the recesses of our heart about our recollections of physical love or just the love of love and how the happiness it brought/brings. I love the colour of sky blue, I think that lightens the soul and there is much of that in this collection, the colour of the summer sky. This is replicated in the water of Arjomandi's 'Underwater Symphony'. Sometimes our spirits are lifted by the earthiness of the grass as in Thiele's 'Individuation' or just a pure dream of what our vision of the peace found in nature might be, for example in Zyzniewski's 'Grabbing the Horizon'.
