In situ installation
Mirrored metal plate, razor clams, iridescent abalone, Amussium shells
Created to mark the 150th anniversary of Impressionism, this installation pays homage to Claude Monet's Water Lilies, transposed here into a shimmering marine material.
On a polished metal plate, which reflects the sky like a pool of water, Aliette Duroyon composes a floating landscape: flowers sculpted from razor… clam shells, abalones with rainbow reflections, and stylized butterflies made from Amussium, delicate shells with unfurled shapes. Each element plays with light, in a poetic yet organic evocation of the famous garden of Giverny.
Between water, sky and shell, the work invites sensory contemplation, a silent dialogue between the Impressionist heritage and the living matter of the ocean.
« Harvesting nature: admiring what we reject, immortalizing what will disappear, and extracting the beauty. »
Aliette is a painter and sculptor based in France whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Germany, Belgium, and the United States. In addition, her art has been featured in publications such as Voix du Nord, Spectrum Miami, etc. Passionate and concerned about the environment, Aliette's distinctive seascapes and abstractions endeavor to capture fleeting natural beauty.
