About this artwork
This abstract interpretational painting was inspired by the classic book The Cat in the Hat written by Theodor Geisel under the pen name Dr Seuss. The story centers on a tall anthropomorphic cat who wears a red and white-striped hat and a red bowtie. The powerful imagery always left a lasting impression in my brain. This is my homage to that memory!
« Art is the one true universal language that ties us all together. It transcends race, creed, color, or sexual orientation. Let’s be more like art! »
Bruce Rubenstein is an American artist whose works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States and around the world. He describes his art as a "manifestation of the subconscious". Rubenstein endeavors to create a specific iconography, topography, and language for each of his compositions. As maps to his inner world, his paintings are created in a "stream of consciousness" manner and invite the viewer to discover their own meaning.
