Constructive design: In contrast to more flowing forms, this 90 cm high sculpture relies on clear edges and a striking vertical staggering. It appears as a structure carved from a tree trunk, divided into three levels.
The interplay of empty space: The central part of the sculpture is wide open. The remaining wooden slats enclose the space like a frame, allowing light to penetrate deep into the object. Vertical indentations in the upper and lower… blocks create rhythmic accents that visually break up the static structure.
Material characteristics: The light-colored linden wood underscores the graphic quality of the sculpture. The fine grain and precise surfaces highlight the quality and craftsmanship of this work.

CW Loth is a sculptor from Westphalia who completed his artistic training at the Ottersberg University of Applied Sciences and has been working with wood for decades. His technique involves transforming massive blocks of wood into complex, dynamic sculptures using a chainsaw, essentially folding the inside out – everything is created from a single piece. His constructivist-concrete style and precise carving create imaginary movements in space. Loth's sculptures convey a quiet tension and lead the viewer to a profound experience of space, potential, and inner movement.
