About this artwork

My drawings are a direct expression of movement and artistic autonomy. They do not refer to the depiction of the visible world, but rather emphasize the spontaneous, intuitive gesture as a central means of expression. The act of painting itself—the movement of the brush, the dynamics of the line, the rhythm of the stroke—becomes the true content of the work.
I attempt to translate calligraphic principles into a Western, abstract visual language:… lines intersect and overlap, flowing in a continuous, almost meditative rhythm. I use no written characters, but purely gestural lines that nevertheless recall calligraphic symbols. The result is pictorial spaces of both great density and tranquility—a balance between movement and stillness, control and spontaneity.
