About this artwork

Tijdens de eerste lockdown, in een tijd van intense eenzaamheid, stroomden berichten op social media binnen. Met dit schilderij verwerk ik die digitale woorden tot beeld: mijn vrouwelijk naakt vervaagt in een bos van abstracte bomen, waarvan de ‘bladeren’ de echo’s zijn van ontvangen teksten. De uiteenlopende toon – van teder en bewonderend tot direct en objectiverend – vormt de kern van het werk. Door deze woorden om te zetten in kunst, geef ik… een nieuwe stem aan kwetsbaarheid en kracht. Dit stuk is een uitnodiging om de moed te vinden om open te spreken over wat vaak verborgen blijft, en laat zien hoe persoonlijke ervaringen een brug slaan naar een bredere dialoog over intimiteit en zelfbewustzijn.

Op aanvraag kan het schilderij ingelijst worden. Het kunstwerk is klaar om op te hangen en kan zonder lijst worden opgehangen, aangezien de zijkanten zijn geverfd.
Dit kunstwerk werd tentoongesteld in Schotland (VK).

Elise Eekhout is a visual artist working at the intersection of painting and graphic design. Her practice explores the language of light, texture, and text. Letters fascinate her not only as carriers of meaning but also as abstract forms — beautiful shapes that dissolve the moment we begin to read them.
By combining traditional techniques with contemporary materials such as gold and silver leaf, she creates layered works that shift with light and perspective. Depending on where the viewer stands, words emerge or vanish, landscapes solidify or dissolve. Her paintings therefore never remain static: they are living surfaces, changing with time, movement, and light.
Recurring themes in her work are memory, transformation, and our relationship with nature. From abstract landscapes to text-based compositions, she seeks to evoke both wonder and reflection. Her art connects the fragility of human stories with the enduring rhythms of the earth, offering viewers a space for contemplation.
