About this artwork
I love going to antique markets to look for old paintings with baroque frames to reinterpret.
Through an ever-dialogical game between classical elements and contemporary urban scenes, I play with the “coincidentia oppositorum”, an intrinsic aspect of the great myths where the different poles of duality meet, creating a space to converse and reinterpret reality.
I like to combine respect for tradition with a touch of revolution and often, a lot… of irony… Depriving the viewer of what he expects to place him at the center of recent references to contemporaneity, “borrowing” while making the borrowing evident, with ironic nods to the known to destroy the expected.

Fabio Pasquali, born in Aosta in 1963, is a stylist artist who combines manual painting with digital technology. Through photo elaborations and material collages on old paintings, often covered with a veil of resin, he creates visual dialectics between classical elements and contemporary urban scenes.
