I have only visited Instanbul once in my life, but it is a place that has never left my mind's eye and my creative imagination. It bestrides the Bosphorous, one of the most magnificent waterways in the world. There is something mystical, mysterious and magical about the Bosphorus. It is lined with the grandest of buildings of such variety and history and which celebrate the religions that have played such a part in that history. It is a spellbinding…
sight to behold, providing such excitement and possibility. But probably the most thrilling aspect of the Bosphorus is that it is where East meets West.
This painting is a celebration of all of this and set at night, as I find any water at night to be magical and intriguing, only hinting at what lies beneath, as the water darkly ripples in the moonlight.
