About this artwork
The twilight at midsummer in the north is always special and intensely colorful along the coasts. It doesn't get completely dark at night, and twilight transforms into dawn within a few hours. The pastel colors of the sky define the flat horizon of the coastal landscape; only a few landmarks provide points of orientation, like "det graa fyr," the lighthouse on Grenen at Denmark's northernmost point, as depicted in this painting. I love to come here… to "den lange Maren"—as this lighthouse is also affectionately known—and do so often. I follow my thoughts and wander through the beach landscape, guided by the lighthouse's light. In the impulsive painting process, I relive such moments, and that's how this atmospheric and multifaceted painting, "there is a light," came about.
« I want to be creative and experience creativity. Therefore I paint what I feel and with great tension, I look at what surrounds me. »
Hasso Heybrock is an artist based in Germany who has exhibited his works nationally, as well as in Denmark, Italy, and Spain. He believes that looking at a painting means walking into an unknown adventure through the picture, where hidden emotions come to the surface. For Heybrock, making the adventure as intense and exciting as possible for the viewer is his main challenge as a painter.
