About this artwork

Before the Storm” was born from a quiet yet unforgettable moment during a walk through the historic park of Laxenburg, near Vienna, Austria. As dark clouds began gathering above, I looked for shelter near a small bridge — but couldn’t resist stopping. The golden light pierced through the sky, dancing on the treetops and the water, while the warm air carried the scent of summer and the soft hum of insects.

That fleeting contrast — the sunlight fighting… through the coming storm, the heavy air, and the vibrant life around — is something I still feel vividly. I tried to preserve that atmosphere in this painting: the calm before the change, nature holding its breath.

This original oil painting invites you to experience that same pause — a moment of connection, reflection, and awe.

I am a Vienna-based artist originally from Kyiv, Ukraine. Passionate about painting since childhood, I studied at the art school of the Teacher’s House in Kyiv. After a successful career as an economist and banker, I returned to my creative roots, working in watercolor, oil, and later acrylics.
Since moving to Austria in 2019, I have honed my skills through private lessons, courses at the Vienna Adult Education Centre (VHS), and online studies with Natalia Nosyk’s art school. My works have been exhibited and recognized in competitions. My art reflects a confident use of color, light, and composition, inspired by nature, seascapes, and still life.
