About this artwork
Often underestimated in Europe, it has long been scientifically proven that magpies are among the most intelligent bird species in the world. They recognize themselves in a mirror, solve complex problems, and live in social structures with pronounced communication skills.
In the summer of 2024, I had the privilege of having a very special experience myself: I raised and cared for a young magpie, and after a few weeks, released it into the wild.… The closeness to this animal, its playful nature, its character, all of this deeply moved me. This painting is dedicated to it and therefore bears its name: Ryū.
Support material: aluminum composite panel, on solid wood frame (mounted by the artist)
