About this artwork
The Bruegels captivated my documentary wanderings in my youth. Very early on, I convinced myself that I had been a painter in other lives...
No doubt that during his medieval years, Bruegel, on leisurely strolls among peasants, at festivals, and weddings, filled his memory with a collection of scenes, anecdotes, and events typical of his time. Then, returning to his studio with his head full of these stories, he could use his brush to unfold them… without worrying about being confined to a single, restrictive subject...
It is in this spirit that this painting was constructed, exactly on the canvas of one of his own, ("Children's Games" painting signed "BRVEGEL 1560" says the old man.) I invited him under my hand as if he had gone there to see in his own way, again today, the things of our world.
We can have fun with it, recognize people, analyze situations, relive events, revisit these snippets of life that circulate on our screens (continued with J.RESCH)
Self-taught artist Jacques Resch masterfully wields oil paint, drawing on five decades of artistic exploration. He combines hyperrealism with surrealist echoes, borrowing the precision of the old masters to create dreamlike and contemplative worlds. Through his work, he invites the viewer to view our times with poetic intensity, blending wonder and reflection.
