About this artwork
The artwork is dedicated to the theme of Buddhism. In this representation, there are numerous symbols of good luck that accompany a spiritual journey through their symbolism and visual presence. The human body is depicted in wood in the center of the picture, symbolizing the pursuit of perfection that, however, always remains unattainable. A koi carp swims through the scene, a symbol of luck, prosperity and a long life, underlining the message that… people are often dissatisfied with what they have. The lucky cat with its right hand raised embodies wealth, while the Chinese porcelain is presented as a symbol of prosperity. The cherry blossoms contrast with the idea of transience, while the three Buddhas covering their mouths, eyes and ears embody the saying 'I hear nothing, I see nothing, I speak no evil'. Below is a hand pointing downwards, as protection against misfortune.
Karina Schiefer, a painter with a background in surrealism, uses mainly acrylic on large-format canvases. She combines acrylic mixed media with surreal approaches to create an innovative visual language with multiple interpretations. Her art is a reflection of her soul and conveys a mix of reality and dreams that is emotionally charged and reveals new worlds.
