About this artwork
A constantly changing canvas of light, movement, and reflection forms the basis of this work. The canvas is metal – a reflective surface whose reflections seem to open up a space.
This image was artistically processed, printed, and transferred to the metal in multiple layers using dissolved pigments, and then further developed with paints, inks, and various painting techniques – until completion.
This creates an interplay of light, color, and… movement. The images transform in the light, especially in the sun, and carry their vibrant beauty into the room – like a flowing symphony of light, color, and movement.
Katharina Dustmann positions herself within the contemporary art discourse with a clearly defined visual language. Her artistic development is closely linked to her long-standing work as a composer – a background that is reflected in the structural precision and rhythmic design of her pictorial compositions.
Abstraction serves her not as a style, but as a consciously employed formal principle. Reflections play a crucial role: they model surfaces, create depth, and control the spatial effect of the works. Photographic elements, digital manipulation, and painterly layering interlock in a controlled manner, producing works of concentrated intensity.
Dustmann's works have been presented internationally and represent a consistently developed position with high recognition value. Her clear artistic signature and conceptual rigor make her works relevant contributions to contemporary collections.
