About this artwork
Pierrette, wearing a mask, a very young woman sitting with a small child in her arms, also wearing a mask. In front of them, a copper bowl. A maternity in the theater, a strange performance... both look at us in amazement. In this work, I wanted to capture the intimacy and mystery of a hidden bond, playing with metaphysical symbolism and contrasts of light and shadow. The choice of pastels and ink amplifies the delicacy of the gesture.
I particularly… wanted to pay attention to the texture of the copper bowl and that of the woman's impalpable, transparent dress. Multiple meanings, of course, but there's no need to explore them; they all come together in each person's questions, like an offering.
