This is a modern allegory about worshipping. In the classic ages adoration was reserved for the Divine. This was also due to lack of scientific knowledge. It is easy to pass judgement about it but easy to grasp as well. Men were frivolous and tried to get as close to God as possible. If life offered no reason but questions there must be something bigger that puts things into perspective. Were life is unfair, vulnerable and trivial, than comfort… and reason can be found in a greater scheme of tings. In the year 2020 we can state that God and the spiritual is on a fashionable revival at one hand. But on the other hand we can state that if God stands for pure spirituality, he is probably stone dead. Devotion is shifted from spiritual to material. Brand names are the new idols. Happiness is on sale. How true this statement is lays in this image that is non-fiction. It is an existing situation captured during a Black Friday. I just dragged it to the surface. It is a cutting edge realism of

Marit Otto is a multi-disciplinary Dutch artist whose work has been exhibited in Netherlands, China and Vietnam.
