About this artwork
This is a view of the dock at Cape Porpoise, Maine showing a lobster boat and a number of skiffs that the lobstermen use to reach their lobster boats anchored in the harbor. In this composition, I was interested in how the various geometric shapes fit together to create the scene. The shapes reminded me of puzzle pieces. The painting is on 1.5 inch thick gallery wrapped canvas with the painting extended onto the sides of the canvas.
« I am drawn to art that gives me a glimpse of what life was like in the past. I strive to do the same for those viewing in the future. »
Michael Maron is an experienced artist based in the United States whose paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions nationally. In his most recent works, he reflects his desire to document a way of life that is under stress from global warming and a progressive loss of working waterfront that is in danger of disappearing. Maron's distinctive figurative compositions are created with oils on canvas.
