About this artwork
In this work, I have captured the warmth and vibrancy of an early morning, when the coffee suddenly smells different. The combination of acrylic, collage, and gel printing allows me to weave together various layers of emotions and memories. The semi-abstract forms and bold colors bring both energy and intimacy to any room where the painting hangs.
The overarching theme is transience. No motif expresses this theme better than flowers in vases, however… decorative they may be.
Michaela Kuhl is a painter who works primarily in watercolor and oil techniques. She is a survivor of the 2004 tsunami, incorporating her experiences into her artistic development. She uses layered painting techniques that symbolize transformation and growth, as well as poetic titles to open up access to the depth of her paintings. Her works convey courage, hope, and the power to draw personal growth and strength from challenges—especially for women.
