About this artwork
Inspired by the internet trend of nostalgia for the lighthearted versions of us from a decade ago.
Composition consists of lip collages filled with photos of consumer items cut out of fashion magazines.
You see, finding items I liked and cutting them out to use later was my favourite task to occupy my hands with while watching Billions and Shadowhunters interchangeably.
Rediscovered lips are now at their rightful place - a golden background, arranged… in a wing-like shape.
This work is not only a temporary escape from what feels like a season finale of Earth. Hopefully, it can also serve as a reminder that we are creatures capable of dreaming.
