About this artwork
A colorful and detailed pop art painting with 'purple rain'.
This artwork uses black cassette tapes with a variety of different colored labels in the background. The colors of the background are therefore very present.
The portrait is painted with a brush and black acrylic paint on a layer of white spray paint. Purple is the most common color in this portrait. Prince's hair contains 'purple raindrops', which of course refers to his most famous song… 'Purple Rain'. Decorative, organic shapes are drawn on Prince's neck with markers in a variety of pastel colors, which complement the purple in the rest of the painting. The Prince symbol can’t be lacking on the right.
The image area is bordered by a sleek black frame, which provides a modern finish.
