About this artwork
This piece was inspired by the quiet mystery that often lies beneath still water. I wanted to explore the idea that a calm surface can hold hidden movement and unseen stories. The koi became the central presence of the composition, gliding gently through the pond while subtle ripples reveal a luminous water dragon emerging from the depths.
Through layered paper and flowing lines, I wanted to focus on capturing the movement within the water, allowing… the koi and the dragon to feel deeply connected. The dragon appears as a reflection of the koi - almost like a symbol of its inner strength and spirit beneath the surface. The surrounding lily pads, lotus blooms, and the gentle waterfall help create the feeling of a quiet, living pond.
Overall, this work reflects the balance between what we see and what remains hidden, a reminder that beneath moments of stillness, there is often quiet energy and life unfolding.

Prasiddhi Amonker, an Indian paper artist, primarily employs quilling as an artistic medium. Honorably self-taught and inspired by nature, her technique focuses on nuanced details and textures of organic landscapes and creatures. With a preference for gentle pastel palettes, she manifests soothing, calming themes of Earth's tranquil landscapes. Amonker’s art encapsulates not only the serenity of nature but also exudes a piece of her very spirit, allowing the observer to experience her perception of the natural world.
