About this artwork
"Unveiling" consists of four transparent layers of fabric, fastened at the top and bottom with metal elements. The figurative representation on the front dissolves through two intermediate stages into an empty bundle of fabric strips. Under suitable lighting, all stages of dissolution and composition can be seen from both sides. I created the lines using freehand machine embroidery, resulting in a relief-like effect. My fundamental idea was to depict…
humanity in a state of being lost, empty, and meaningless. Viewed from the back, however, there is hope of finding unity and balance again.
