In this work, the artist continues his exploration of stylized libraries, evolving them towards a more structured and refined form. The books become shapes, blocks of color organized in a structure that is both stable and subtly irregular.
The composition plays on a balance between order and vibration. The lines are never completely fixed: they shift slightly, introducing a subtle tension that animates the whole.
The deliberately limited palette… blends nuanced whites, ochres, earth tones, and grays, punctuated by deeper touches. The application of successive layers of oil paint creates a richness of texture and a depth characteristic of Sophie Dumont's work. Frame options: wood or black

Sophie Dumont is a contemporary French painter born in Paris in 1964. She currently lives and works in Normandy. Her work, primarily oil on canvas, explores the memory of places through abstract landscapes, stylized libraries, and studio interiors. Through the layering of numerous paints and subtle collages, she constructs structured compositions where matter, light, and color interact. Her work is distinguished by a balance between architecture and pictorial sensibility. Exhibiting for over twenty years in France and internationally, notably in Germany, Canada, Belgium, and Italy, Sophie Dumont's work is now featured in numerous private and museum collections.
