About this artwork
The guardian of the forest appears, detached from any realistic presence, as an ethereal structure of ornamental lines, organic forms, and symbolic signs. Its limbs dissolve into roots, intertwining the landscape. The natural grain of the wood is deliberately integrated into the imagery, reinforcing the impression of movement, growth, and vitality. The guardian's crown flows seamlessly into plant-like structures, connecting animal and vegetative… elements. Animal, plant, and earth merge into a cohesive pictorial world where fixed boundaries are dissolved and transformation becomes the central design principle. Thematically, the work explores the all-encompassing interconnectedness of all being. The stag appears not as a physical being, but as the guardian of a natural order characterized by change, interdependence, and mutual permeation.
Stefan Dauter works with wood and pyrography, drawing his inspiration from nature and his personal journey. With a blend of organic natural motifs, Celtic-inspired lines, and intricate, symbolic ornaments, he fuses precise craftsmanship with intuitive design. His works radiate tranquility, depth, and primal essence, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in a spiritual, mythical world and allow themselves to be touched.
