About this artwork
“Pic d’Arrens” evokes for me a form of mineral elevation, like a fragment of mountain condensed into a vertical volume.
I personally compose the material that constitutes this sculpture. The colours, the layers and the fragments recall what shapes a mountain: layering, compression and time.
Here, terrazzo becomes a recomposed geology. The marble aggregates and pigments appear in visible layers, not as a representation of the landscape, but as… a memory of its formation.
Through this work, I explore the relationship between matter and verticality, between density and elevation. I seek to offer a sensitive reading of the landscape — not by describing it, but by allowing it to emerge through the sculpture.

Thomas Auzon, a self-taught sculptor, works exclusively with terrazzo, a material he creates himself from cement and marble aggregates, continuing his background in masonry. His works revolve around essential geometric forms, exploring balance, tension, and stability through a sensitive and structural approach. He thus creates strikingly mineral pieces, silent and timeless, conveying a profound and soothing emotion, inviting contemplation and a slow perception of material presence.
