SMOKING IS SEXY ! DYING IS NOT A cigarette is the perfect pleasure. It is exquisite, and it leaves one unsatisfied. What more can one want in life ? Oscar Wilde. This new series of photo based artworks 50% in neon blue light 50% coloured by nicotine, are a nostalgic, romanticised vision of the seductive force of cigarettes. In the old days everyone with style was a smoker. You could not be taken seriously if you did not have a cigarette in your hand.… I always did, David Bowie and all my heroes did. People smoked on TV in Hospitals, restaurants, trains and planes and in all public buildings and in Bed... Smoking was an important part of life. Most of the smokers died of cancer. I have C.O.P.D. “Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease “ as a result of smoking heavenly cigarettes for over 50 years. It will eventually kill me. It's like Freddie Mercury used to sing before he died “ Who wants to live forever ?” But still I believe Smoking is Sexy and the “ smoke”is still magic. Thomas
