About this artwork
Insane Together is a striking reflection on the intensity and complexity of close relationships, where connection can feel both exhilarating and chaotic. The composition is divided into clustered forms that seem to lean toward and press against one another, suggesting two forces in constant dialogue, sometimes harmonious, sometimes disruptive. Warm corals and reds mingle with cooler blues and deep navy, evoking the emotional push and pull that defines… intimacy. Gestural lines loop and tangle across the surface like unfinished conversations or shared histories, binding the separate shapes into a single energetic field. True to its title, the painting captures how relationships can be beautifully overwhelming, a space where disorder and devotion coexist, and where being “insane together” becomes its own kind of unity.
Tony Gregg is an abstract painter from Rhode Island, with a BFA from Bowling Green State University, whose Midwest roots and persistent curiosity shape his practice. He works intuitively with paint, building each canvas by hand and employing gestural techniques—swells, spirals, drips, and smears—that evoke movement, tension, and cycles of memory. His distinctive style hovers between spontaneity and control, inviting chance and ambiguity. In his work, Tony conveys a potent blend of restraint and freedom, evoking emotional states that invite viewers into a dynamic dialogue of anticipation, reflection, and connection.
Tony has appeared in multiple New England based galleries as well as The World of Interiors, Tatler, British Vogue, Spotlight Contemporary Art, The Huts, Purposeful Mayo and Collect Art Autumn publications.
