About this artwork
What can be seen on this paper work is reminiscent of a waterfall. Surprisingly, the color blue is not used here to represent water, but warm cadmium orange instead of the cooler blue. Active and energetic, an orange colored structure flows and falls in a cascading fashion from the upper pictorial space downwards. So, the whole thing reminds of a fictional landscape. Simply by limiting the coloring to just one color, which symbolizes not only energy…
and activity, but also joie de vivre and optimism, the depiction entitled Kaskade gains a strong dynamic and leaves room for far-reaching interpretations.

The German artist Uwe Beyer, born in 1959, lives in Coswig, near Dresden, and in Düsseldorf. He studied at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle (1988–1993). Uwe Beyer's paintings emerge more from mindfulness than from control. The material is allowed to move, resist, and settle. Form is not imposed but develops organically—stabilizing briefly before dissolving back into openness. Each work exists in a tension between presence and withdrawal, density and emptiness. It exists as a self-contained object while simultaneously eluding complete visibility. Instead of composing images, his practice creates the conditions for their emergence. These paintings do not represent the world.
