About this artwork
In this work on paper, the artistic means were deliberately reduced.
Expressively and dynamically applied red color areas as well as black,
Contoured lines form a lively structure. The color red could represent passion,
Energy, conflict or intense emotions. The combination of powerful,
energetic red surfaces and the reduced lines are reminiscent of the original development,
of forms emerging from chaos or emptiness. Or also of decomposition… and construction:
The body is fragmented but still recognizable, reminiscent of the building processes in nature.
One could also think of communication beyond language,
almost like an archaic exchange between individual beings, instincts or consciousness.

« When I'm in the process, I do not think. I let the process guide me. »
The German artist Uwe Beyer, born in 1959, lives in Coswig, near Dresden, and in Düsseldorf. He studied at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle (1988–1993). Uwe Beyer's paintings emerge more from mindfulness than from control. The material is allowed to move, resist, and settle. Form is not imposed but develops organically—stabilizing briefly before dissolving back into openness. Each work exists in a tension between presence and withdrawal, density and emptiness. It exists as a self-contained object while simultaneously eluding complete visibility. Instead of composing images, his practice creates the conditions for their emergence. These paintings do not represent the world.
They reveal the conditions under which form – and thus reality – comes into being. What remains is not an image, but a trace of becoming.
