About this artwork
"Ego" is part of a monumental diptych that I created during a residency at the "Gallery Cinq Dimensions" in Grand Bois (Reunion Island). "Alter & Ego", placed end to end, are more than five meters long. The two canvases have their particularities. "Ego" offers abstract images linked to femininity. me to improve the production of my canvases. In my studio, I practice the research and development of mediums and canvases. The composite canvas of these two compositions allows me to offer very large-format works with incomparable rigidity and stability over time. Victor Abel, a Canadian artist living in Réunion Island, explores the relationship between material, gesture, and light. His work, rooted in research on colors, shapes, and contrasts, is characterized in particular by the use of metal supports and gold leaf gilding.
