Chantelle Stean

My work is an exploration of the threshold where coastal light meets atmospheric mass. Moving away from representational form, I focus on the 'Glow Core'—the emotional light trapped within layers of sea mist and fog.
​Utilizing a signature multi-stage oil process, I build physical topography through textured foundations before submerging them in translucent glazes of blue, green, and emotional magentas. My paintings do not seek to depict objects like clouds or waves, but rather the energy, depth, and tidal movement of the atmosphere itself. Each piece is an invitation to inhabit a space where the horizon is felt rather than seen.
