« The worst thing which can happen to an artist is when they find their style. You found it - you are dead. Why do you need to hurry? »
Salomeya Bauer is an artist, documentary director and queer activist, hailing from the Caucasus region, where she delves into the intricate facets of human nature through her creative works.
Fascinated by anthropology and mythology, she studies folklore in search of new significance for her artworks. In her works, Bauer pays close attention to the poses and gestures of her subjects, portraying frozen moments, 'interrupted by a static canvas'. She is passionate about oil, watercolour, coloured pencils, using traditional materials in her work and interpreting its in a contemporary way.
