"In this work, I explore the contrast between outward calm and inner vitality. The figure turns away, its gaze is lowered, a moment of introspection and stillness."
But while the posture appears calm, the colors tell a different story.
I deliberately chose an expressive, almost Fauvist color palette. The bright yellow, the vibrant magenta, and the cool blue express the complex emotions and thoughts that are going on within her in this moment of… introspection.
The body dissolves downwards into abstract brushstrokes, which for me symbolizes how our physical shell dissolves into the world of feelings and energy.
The calm, turquoise background gives the subject the necessary space to breathe."
