About this artwork
On 28th March 2003 the Pavilion of Brighton West Pier -- the grandest of the old Victorian piers -- was destroyed in an arson attack. The skeletal remains of the Pavilion were left to become a feature of Brighton’s seafront. The desolate beauty of the old Pier is a reminder of the senseless acts of violence that human beings are capable of, but perhaps also that we can find a different kind of meaning in these sad events: that there is beauty also…
in brokenness and decay.
This print is made using the Lambda C-Type process on Fuji Crystal Archive paper. Lambda C-Type printing gives true continuous tone, ultra sharp photographic images with crisp and precise edge to edge printing and absolutely no distortion.
